Peter Symons is a writer, editor and historian who holds history degrees from the University of Melbourne and Monash University as well as a diploma in writing and editing from RMIT. He has worked as an editor on the internet, published short fiction, conducted research for several organisations and recently published his first history ; a history of Doncare, a welfare organisation in Doncaster, Melbourne. He has been recently editing PhD theses through Victoria University.
He is a keen student of language and its changes and has a fondness for the intracacies of English grammar. He has a particular abhorrence for what Don Watson called "weasel words" and believes there is beauty and joy in the clear expression of language.
Peter Symons is a member of the Society of Editors and the Professional Historians' Association.
